Do You Know About These 7 Types of Shorts?

If you thought shorts were limiting, think again. There is a short type for every body type, length and even occasion. Like them or hate them, shorts are virtually everywhere-including the office.

There are over thirty types of shorts, classified by length, cut and fabrics, activity and design.

Here are some of the more common types of shorts.

1. Summer Shorts

Summer shorts come in light, coloured fabrics perfect for the heat.

You can get them in varying lengths. Slimming shorts have these qualities but come in distinct cuts that help slim down one’s silhouette. What more do you need for summer?

2. Booty Shorts

These are short, low rise shorts designed to cover the bare necessities. Booty shorts were once worn over short skirts to cover one’s modesty.

Today, these are entire bottoms on their own. You will spot them in nightclubs, the beach and so on. These shorts are great for highlighting and shaping the butt.

3. Pajama Shorts

These can be worn by both sexes. Pajama shorts are also known as lounge shorts as they are super stretchy with an elastic band. This makes them extremely comfortable for hanging out around the house and going on about their chores.

4. Bermuda Shorts

These are also known as dress shorts or walking shorts. Bermuda shorts are loose and come down slightly above the knee.

Most of them have a cuff at the hem.

Some women steer clear of them due to their loose-fitting nature. However, some ladies love them for the same quality as it makes them comfortable.

5. Denim Shorts

These look much like booty shorts though they can be slightly longer and are made of denim or jeans.

These have numerous variations, including being cut off to give them a rugged look.

6. Cargo Shorts

These are also called combat shorts and feature two or more side pockets to give the combat look.

These shorts are often loose-fitting though they are increasingly being made more fitting by using stretchy fabrics for a more fashionable look.

7. Slip Shorts

These are highly elastic and primarily worn as shapewear. As such, they are worn under skirts, pants and dresses to give the desired silhouette.

Slip shorts years ago were made from rather uncomfortable fabric. Today, they are made from breathable fabrics that feel soft in the next, yet comfortable and stretchy enough to give an hourglass figure.

Final Word

This is just a snapshot of the types of shorts available. With a bit of effort, you can find the perfect pair of shorts for your body type. You can also dress them up or down and accessorize them in different ways to achieve different looks.
