Friday night is our regular pizza and movie night. The boys spread out old blankets in front of the TV, grab their plates full of pizza and tune in to the chosen flick. Bret and I usually join them, but last Friday night we did something different.

Earlier in the day, I had gotten some beautiful artichokes at the store and stopped by Great Harvest to pick up a loaf of their (it was still warm!) Bruschetta Twist. I had in mind a quiet dinner for the two of us while the boys enjoyed their pizza.

A simple salad, roasted artichokes, parmesan aioli for dipping and bruschetta bread were on the menu.

Parmesan Aioli

1 cup mayo

1 clove garlic, chopped

1/4 cup parmesan

2 tablespoons water

Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. Use for dipping roasted artichoke leaves.

The food and the company were wonderful! It felt a little bit like a date night at home…a great way to start the weekend.
