Everyday Bits & Pieces

I know posting has been sparse around here the last few weeks. Recovering from our vacation, sending the boys off to school and diving into a full, fall calendar left the days overflowing late into the night. And me? Well, I was falling asleep on the couch not long after the boys were in bed. Not so good for blogging, huh? Now that we are settling into a more manageable groove, I am looking forward to spending more time here. I have legal pads that have pages scribbled with ideas that I want to share. There will be a few changes in months to come, some more noticeable than others, but all of them good. The first is a new series, starting today, called Everyday Bits & Pieces. I hope to share a few things each Friday of what I’ve been loving, what caught my eye on the web, instagrams from the week, a little bit of this and that, so to speak. I hope you’ll enjoy it. If you have any ideas, or things you want to share, feel free to put them in the comments for us all to enjoy! So, without further adieu…

Yes, I know. It’s been a little quiet around here for the last 12 days. I have a good excuse though, it involves 22 hours of driving, waves, sand, southern cooking, sea shells and family time. LOTS of wonderful, family time. Those all seem like good reasons to let the ol’ blog sit quiet for awhile. At least I think so… I had felt the tugging for awhile now, to make a trek to the ocean. I wanted the timing to be right, for our boys to remember the first time they smelled the salty air and felt the waves crashing at their feet. So a year ago we began talking about making it happen. There was a lot of planning, studying maps, researching beaches and places to stay. It became our project, but more than that it felt like this great gift we were creating for our children. The gift of seeing the world beyond the corn fields that grow in our backyard. I have more pictures than I know what to do with. Usually, I’m not much of an over-shooter, but this trip was an exception. I photographed everything. There were quite a few great moments from this trip, but by far the biggest highlight was the beach. I’ll let the overload of pics tell the tale…
